Studying at Halic University in Istanbul as an exchange student from Baku, Azerbaijan, was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Shifting from my politics major to studying business for a semester was a huge challenge, but it pushed me to grow both academically and personally. I had to adjust to a completely different way of thinking, moving from political theory to business concepts like marketing, finance, and management. At first, it felt overwhelming, but over time, I began to appreciate how interconnected these fields really are.
The campus at Halic University was vibrant and diverse, with students from all over the world. The professors were approachable, passionate, and always ready to engage in meaningful discussions. There were plenty of events and workshops that brought students together, creating a strong sense of community. I made friendships with people from different backgrounds, each sharing their unique perspectives, which made the experience even more enriching.
Living in Istanbul was unforgettable. The city’s mix of history and modern energy made it feel alive on every corner. I loved exploring famous landmarks and discovering hidden local spots—cozy cafes and parks. Istanbul’s food scene, from Turkish breakfasts to kebabs and baklava, was another highlight. Despite the challenges of adapting to a new culture, this experience opened my eyes in so many ways. Istanbul will always hold a special place in my heart.
