Hello, my name is Sarar and I’m an Erasmus trainee from Istanbul in Lyon France. My traineeship in Lyon at a logistics company was an eye-opening experience. Coming from Istanbul, the orderly pace of Lyon felt unfamiliar at first. At work, I faced challenges adjusting to the precision required in managing supply chains, especially with the language barrier. But I soon found my footing by applying strategies from Istanbul’s chaotic logistics environment to streamline operations in Lyon.Outside the office, the city of Lyon offered a different rhythm. I spent my evenings wandering through Vieux Lyon, enjoying its rich history and tasting local delicacies like escargots and cheese fondue. My colleagues often invited me for weekend trips to nearby vineyards, where I began to understand the French emphasis on quality and tradition. As the weeks passed, I grew to appreciate the blend of cultures in both my work and daily life. I learned to merge Istanbul’s adaptability with Lyon’s precision, and by the end of my traineeship, I had not only gained professional skills but also a deep appreciation for the cultural exchange that had enriched my experience. Leaving Lyon, I knew I’d carry these lessons with me long into my career.
